Every year, Ho Chi Minh City School of Restaurant Profession (153 Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) recruits 240 students, a group of young people from 16 to 21 years old studying 4 majors in baking, cooking, waitress and bartender; study for 24 months.

In addition to vocational training, students are also trained in additional knowledge in literature, math, and English… Rector of Ho Chi Minh City Restaurant School Ta Van Duc said: “Besides skills training, we also teach extra classes. about soft skills, English, especially teaching culture because many students come here to study due to difficult conditions, some have just finished 5th grade, some have not completed high school… Moreover, many children were born early, If they are infected with street culture, when they enter school, they will receive comprehensive training in culture and skills that will help them develop sustainably.”
Mr. Duc added: "Students are supported by the school to refer until they have a job, the graduation rate of the school reaches 85%, the rate of students having a job is about 95%".

Mai Nguyen Thanh Long, 18 years old, has been learning to cook for 4 months, said: “I stopped going to school in 11th grade, and I didn't know what to do at home. KOTO school has 2 restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and 1 training center in Yen Vien (Hanoi), enrollment period is in March and August every year. Students can choose one of two majors: restaurant/bar service, or kitchen, and train for 24 months. Ms. Huynh Thi Nguyen Thao, representative of KOTO School in Ho Chi Minh City branch, said: “Each enrollment period will accept 40 students, who are teenagers from 16 to 22 years old, underprivileged circumstances, orphans. or have relatives but cannot afford to take care of them, groups at risk of crime or human trafficking… In the first 18 months, in addition to specialized knowledge, students also learn personal financial management skills. Personal, psychological, sexual health... In the last 6 months, students do internships at big restaurants and hotels in the city. After graduating, students will receive a certificate issued by Box Hill Institute (Australia) and have international value.
From 2018, KOTO opened a 6-month training program for disadvantaged women. This program is part of a three-year cooperation project between the Australian Consulate and KOTO. During the 6 months of study, the school supports each student with 1.5 million VND/month for living expenses. After completing the course, they will receive a certificate issued by KOTO.
Not only learning how to make bread, students after finishing their studies at 4P-Foods (116A Nguyen Huu Tho, Dist. Nha Be, HCMC) will receive funding to open a bread cabinet.
